Evolution in WHOLE Coaching: Becoming the Most Authentic Version of You
WHOLE Coaching is a powerful framework designed to help you become the most authentic version of yourself. Through five clear stages – What Matters, Honesty, Ownership, Live What Matters, and Evolution – it supports deep transformation rooted in meaning, values, and purpose.
Up until now you have focused on deep inner work, but living WHOLE is not, and can never be, a solitary process. We live, grow and create within a society and web of relationships. To experience true WHOLEness we must engage with others and through these interactions, we are changed. The key is to discern which connections fuel growth, inspiration, and alignment, rather than regression.
By the time you reach Evolution, you have developed the awareness and inner strength to choose relationships, collaborations, and environments that act as catalysts for your authentic growth. You understand what you value, why you value it, and how to live with integrity, flow, and purpose. Moving with integrity, you are now able to take steps towards meaningful success that embody commitment, alignment and evolution: the most authentic version of you.
“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”
(W.H. Murray, Based on words by Goethe)
What Does It Mean to Evolve?
Think of the whole piece of fruit. Underneath the flesh are the seeds. The seeds fall, take root, grow, bloom, and once again only the seeds are left, at which point the cycle continues. It evolves once again into a new piece of fruit. Wholeness is not an endpoint; it is the fertile ground for growth, which you continue to evolve. However, the plant must be healthy to bear good fruit (and seeds). Before you can become whole, you must make sure you have the roots and branches in the best condition they can be in. This is why we do W H O and L before E – Evolution.
This final part of the framework is most of all about alchemy: catalysts of change and growth. This is not a destination, it is simply an understanding of how to continue to navigate through your perpetual growth and development.
Once you become whole, you become you. You evolve into the most authentic version of you, one which isrooted, energised, and aligned. The word evolution comes from the Latin evolutio, meaning “an unrolling” – originally describing a wheeling motion. And isn’t that the essence of wholeness? It is a full circle, a turning, a becoming. Once you become whole, you become you, and therefore you evolve into the most authentic version of yourself.
What Will Become of Me?
You cannot know what will come your way in terms of opportunities when you are the most authentic version of yourself. This is because other people will begin to see you and treat you differently. Therefore, they will perceive you to be a great fit for things you didn’t even know you wanted to do – but once you try them you realise are so authentically you.
“But what about my goals and all of the plans I made in W-What Matters”, I hear you ask!
All of these will grow and change. Evolution applies to your abilities, skills, confidence, desires, hopes and dreams, and your actions and behaviour. Thus, people will see and treat you differently – for the better!
Evolution is not a decision you make once. It is a cycle you enter into, again and again. This is not a motivational high. It is a lifelong rhythm, enabling you to develop a stronger sense of self, based on who you really are. This can present itself as an increased sense of competency and self-efficacy in setting goals and in direction setting. Increased inner awareness and responsibility can lead to a new self-assuredness, confidence and self-belief.
Interconnection
At this stage of WHOLE, new relationships can develop, some relationships may fall away, whilst others become redefined by a new way of relating to oneself.
The thoughts and opinions of others on your life become less important in terms of deciphering what is right for you. At the same time, other people can become instrumental in your evolution. New connections may be formed and new life directions taken. Interdependence takes on a meaning of growth not static. We need mentors, collaborators, creative partners, inspiration sounding boards, supporters, AND challengers. You cannot evolve fully in isolation. In the sense of becoming WHOLE, we are only truly tested through the way in which we navigate society and our place in it. Creativity, improvisation and flow can thrive in the spaces you inhabit with others, as they can spark and develop.
Growth is relational. The right connections, those who spark curiosity, challenge assumptions, and believe in your deeper potential, accelerate your evolution. They hold up a mirror to your values, ideas, and integrity, helping you refine and expand your path. These connections don’t drain you; they fuel your vision.
When you are ready for evolution, you will also feel ready to engage with others in a way that feels more secure, grounded, but also exciting and challenging. You will not always feel sure footed but stay rooted to your values and where you feel flow and find meaning. If that remains then you will be able to continue on the path in spite of challenge. You will be able to seek connection as a means of support and growth – even if it raises challenges. It’s also worth remembering that becoming more authentic may bring discomfort. You may feel exposed. You may be misunderstood. You may even lose approval. But you will gain something far more powerful: integrity, vitality, and peace.
What If I Don’t Want to Change?
If you are resisting this phase, it may be worth your while going back to the start. Do not feel this has been a waste of time. There are many times in life that we need to reexamine our choices and our path. For every life era we will need to evolve. We are not the same person who started primary school, or college, university, first job, first relationship, marriage, etc. Simply begin the process again to examine what you may have missed. If you are not yet ready, you are just percolating in the realms of change!
Do not fear becoming someone new. Being your WHOLE self is about becoming your most authentic self, not an entirely different self. The more authentic you become, the more your energy flows freely into relationships, work, creativity, and self-expression.
You’ll know you’re stepping into authenticity when:
- You say no without guilt or over-explaining
- You stop shrinking to fit spaces you’ve outgrown
- You trust your intuition over external validation
- You feel energised, not drained, by your choices
- You let go of “shoulds” and honour what’s real
This isn’t a perfect state to reach. It’s a commitment to practice it every day acting, speaking, and choosing from a place of authenticity.
Becoming The Most Authentic Version of Yourself
This phase of evolution is about alchemy: when your values, creativity, and connections combine to create something larger than yourself. It is where flow deepens, where collaboration enriches your ideas, and where your authentic self is tested and strengthened through engagement with the world. Your most authentic self is not a fixed identity. It’s a way of being that is honest, aligned, and grounded in your values. It is the self you live from when you are no longer trying to impress, perform, or protect. When your outer life begins to reflect your inner truth, not just occasionally, but consistently – that’s authenticity in action.
The more you honour your truth, the more whole you feel, not because life becomes easier, but because youbecome more you.
At this stage of the WHOLE framework, you are aiming to maintain the following:
- Integration: This is when your values are no longer external goals. Rather, they are alive in your words, your choices, your presence.
- Presence under pressure: You are able hold your ground, not only when it’s easy, but when it’s hard, especially when it’s hard!
- Repetition: You live your most authentic truth not in grand gestures, but in daily, often unseen, acts of integrity.
- Identity shift: You no longer strive to become. You are.
- Trust: You stop reaching for constant validation because you value your own opinion. You trust your compass and live with inner authority.
Evolution is not a race to the top. It is a spiralling inward. A return to essence. An honouring of the truth that you are not here to fix yourself. You are here to live your most authentic self.
This is where it all comes together and where you become your WHOLE self.
You’ve clarified what matters, faced the truth, taken responsibility, begun to live it and now… you become fully yourself, in the most unexpected and surprising of ways.
Let the evolution continue….
